A Bit About Me

Growing up in a household where music was the family business, I developed an early fascination not just with the art itself, but with the complex ecosystem that makes the music industry tick. That curiosity shaped a career path at the intersection of creativity, data, and finance, focused on ensuring the people who create the music we love are compensated fairly and accurately for their work.

My journey started where most people wouldn't expect for someone now working in royalties and data analytics: on the creative and technical side. Teaching piano, drums, songwriting, and music theory while serving as a front-of-house engineer and technology director gave me something most analysts don't have; a genuine understanding of what the numbers represent in human terms, because I've lived on the creative side of those numbers.

That foundation carried me into the business infrastructure of the industry. At BMI, I worked in royalty processing and rights administration, introducing workflow improvements that reduced average client response time from three weeks to just one week. At FBMM, I handled comprehensive music business management for touring artists, managing everything from financial reporting to royalty tracking. In music publishing administration, I designed automated workflows using Python, SQL, and VBA, and provided AI policy research at the intersection of publishing contracts and emerging technology regulation.

My technical toolkit spans SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, and advanced Excel, alongside industry-specific platforms and metadata standards including CWR, ISRC, ISWC, and IPI codes. Academically, I hold dual master's degrees from Trevecca Nazarene University in Finance and Accounting and Sports and Entertainment Industry Management, plus a B.S. in Recording Arts and Technology from Full Sail University, supplemented by professional development through Harvard Business School Online and Berklee College of Music.

Whether I'm reconciling complex royalty discrepancies, automating workflows that save hours of manual processing, or researching how emerging technologies will reshape the industry, the goal remains constant: building solutions that serve both the art and the artist. The music industry's greatest strength has always been its ability to bring people together; my contribution is ensuring the systems behind the music work with the same precision and integrity that the art itself deserves.
